All University Committee (8 faculty/librarians, 3 students, 3 admin)
Charge: To take up or act upon any recommendation, report or other matter submitted to it by any standing or ad hoc committee or to refer to a standing committee or ad hoc committee any matter that any member of the college community shall bring to AUC for consideration.
Tenure Committee (2 tenured faculty/librarians)
Charge: The Committee on Tenure shall consider the recommendations and all related materials that pertain to the member of the bargaining unit who is a candidate for tenure. The chair of the committee shall schedule the necessary meetings of the committee. Each candidate for tenure shall be invited by the chair of the committee to meet with the committee during some part of its evaluation of the candidate. The committee shall make in writing to the Vice President its recommendation either supporting or declining to support such grant of tenure.
Promotions Committee (5 tenured faculty/librarians)
Charge: The Committee on Promotions shall consider the recommendations and all related materials that pertain to each member of the bargaining unit who is a candidate for promotion and shall thereafter make in writing to the Vice President its recommendation either supporting or declining to support such promotion.
Curriculum Committee (10 faculty/librarians, 2 students, 2 admin)
Charge: To prepare reports and recommendations concerning: 1) general coordination and improvements of the academic program; 2) deletion/addition to or changes in the curriculum; 3) changes for major requirements; and 4) proposals of new programs
Academic Policies Committee (10 faculty/librarians, 2 students, 2 admin)
Charge: To prepare reports and recommendations concerning: 1) the academic calendar; 2) academic standards; 3) admission standards; 4) selective retention policies; 5) educational services that the college should render to the local community; and 6) library services
Student Affairs Committee (5 faculty/librarians, 9 students, 5 admin)
Charge: To prepare reports and recommendations concerning: 1) the needs of the student population; 2) student activities; 3) student participation in cultural and social activities; and 4) practices, policies and trends in student life
Graduate Education Council (5 grad faculty, 1 grad student, 3 admin)
Charge: To prepare reports and recommendations concerning: 1) changing graduate course requirements; 2) addition of new courses and the deletion of existing courses in the graduate program; and 3) criteria to be applied in designating as such members of the graduate faculty
Awards Committee (5 faculty/librarians, 5 admin)
Charge: The Awards Committee is responsible for jurying unrestricted awards at the college, including the design, development and execution of jury processes and competitions resulting in college-wide awards of merit, cash and awards
International/Intercultural Opportunities Committee (4/5 faculty/librarians, 4/5 admin, 4/5 students)
Charge: MassArt considers a global perspective to be essential to the development of an informed artist, designer, or educator. To this end, the International and Intercultural Committee (IIO) is charged to coordinate, promote, and increase awareness of international opportunities to the college community (may revise charge this year and split into two committees)
Sustainability in the Curriculum (6 faculty/librarians, 1-2 students, 1-2 admin)
Charge: This committee will continue the work of the Sustainability Initiative, including defining sustainability and crafting a clear mission for the college, envisioning how the principles and practices of sustainability would be integrated into the curriculum and gathering and disseminating information among all areas of the college (may revise charge this year)
Civic Engagement Committee (4 faculty/librarians, 3 admin)
Charge: To create avenues for learning beyond the boundaries of our classrooms and campus; to expand and deepen our connections to diverse communities in Boston and beyond; to foster the exchange of knowledge between the many communities that make up the Commonwealth and our students, faculty and staff; to enhance our curricular and co-curricular offerings by bringing representatives from various aspects of the college as stakeholders and citizens of a more equitable society to envision and support a civic engagement plan for the college (may revise charge this year)
Committee on Institutional Scholarships (4 faculty/librarians)
Charge: To identify and review candidates and select recipients for full tuition and fee merit awards, the Tsongas and Trustees scholarships, as well as for named foundation-funded scholarships. The Committee also develops and proposed policies governing college merit scholarships where appropriate
